Resources within the University of Toronto 

  • Teaching Children About Consent, Teaching Tweens About Consent, Teaching Teens About Consent. In partnership with the U of T Sexual Violence Prevention and Support Centre, the Family Care Office developed a three-part webinar series where you will hear from Dr. Nadine Thornhill, an educator specializing in child and adolescent sexuality. For over a decade, Nadine has been helping folks have honest, open conversations with their kids and teens about bodies, relationships, and more.   
  • OISE Psychology Clinic Children and Adolescent Services. Services are provided by graduate students under the supervision of psychologists who are members of the College of Psychologists of Ontario. In some cases, services may be provided by faculty members who are registered psychologists. Parent Guidance/Counselling is also available. 
  • Employee & Family Assistance Program is available to employees of the University of Toronto and their dependents: spouses, partners and dependent children. This program is provided at no cost to you.

  • Anti-Bullying Resources for Parents: The effects of bullying are immediate and long-lasting, putting our children at risk for several physical, social and mental health problems. This section offers information and practical strategies parents can use to help their children build healthy relationships and prevent violence.  
  • Safer Partying: Tips for parents on safer partying, including a parents’ party pledge: “I promise you the unconditional option of calling me at any time for help or advice. That includes picking you up at any time of the day or night, with a promise not to shame or embarrass you in front of others. I always welcome the chance to be part of your smart and safe decisions.“
