Adoption

The Family Care Office hosts a How to Adopt workshop each year. Check our Events Listing for possible upcoming offerings. If you are interested in exploring adoption pathways such as public, private and international, this workshop is for you. If our How to Adopt workshop is not offered at a time that works for your journey, you can take the How to Adopt Course through the Adoption Council of Ontario.

To learn more about all types of adoption and your role as a potential adoptive parent, contact the Centralized Adoption Intake Service to discern if adoption is right for you and to get help in completing the adoption application for public adoption.

If you are a U of T student, staff, postdoc or faculty member adopting a child, don't hesitate to contact our Family Caregiver Leave Specialist to discuss adoption and/or primary caregiver leave for information. Please also refer to Pregnancy & Parental Leaves for information on adoption leaves. Please also refer to New Parents.
