TSpace

TSpace is a free and secure research repository established by University of Toronto Libraries to disseminate and preserve the scholarly record of University of Toronto.

Assisted Deposit Service

TSpace offers an assisted deposit service for CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC grant recipients affiliated with the University of Toronto. This service supports the requirements of the Tri-Agency Open Access Policy on Publications, and it applies to all grants awarded by NSERC or SSHRC from May 1, 2015, onward and all grants awarded by CIHR from January 1, 2008, onward.

The TSpace team will:

  • Verify publisher permissions
  • Prepare your materials for upload
  • Deposit your materials to TSpace, and
  • Provide you with a permanent link to your publications.

Processing times are subject to our workload and wait times while contacting publishers for permissions.

To use the assisted deposit service:

  1. Complete the online Mediated Deposit Agreement, and
  2. Email us the accepted manuscript/post-print versions of your grant-funded publications at tspace@library.utoronto.ca

What is the accepted manuscript/post-print version, and why do you need it?

The accepted manuscript version (also known as a post-print version) is the version that has been peer-reviewed with revisions incorporated by the author. However, it has not been formally copy-edited or formatted by the publisher and does not bear identifying information (such as an official header or DOI) from the journal. Consult the Published Paper Versions Guide for additional details.

There are two reasons why we ask for this version:

  1. Publisher copyright policies are more likely to permit the deposit of the accepted manuscript than the final published version.
  2. Tri-Agency Open Access Policy compliance requires CIHR, SSHRC, and NSERC funding recipients to deposit the accepted manuscript (post-print) version of a work, if the final published version cannot be self-archived.
