Images of Empire from the British Empire and Commonwealth Museum is the largest dedicated online resource of still and moving images on the British colonial period.

Contains over 70,000 images from all over the world. Dating from the mid-1850s to the mid-1980s the photographs about the history of the Commonwealth, documenting developments in a wide variety of fields including medicine, education and industry.

This digital image collection forms part of the Memory of the Netherlands, a project of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek, the National Library of the Netherlands which is digitising important sources of the Netherlands' cultural heritage and making them freely available via this website. It comprises over 3,000 photographs of colonial life and colonial administration in the Dutch East Indies taken between 1860-1940. The database may be searched or browsed.
