A scanner and computer are available in the OHEC reading room. There is no charge for scanning. If you would like to scan material for future reference please consult with us before proceeding. The material in the OHEC collection is often rare and fragile; if damage does occur please notify the librarian or reference assistant.
Scanned images of OHEC material are for educational and research use only. If you wish to publish images or other material from the OHEC collection, requests may be made to the copyright owner.
The scanning software is pre-set to output multi-page searchable PDFs using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology. Scans will be saved in the “Scans” folder on the desktop of the OHEC computer. Scanned files can then be attached to email, moved to online storage sites such as DropBox or Google Drive, or saved to a USB key for future use. Refer to the reference guide at the scan station for instructions on setting up the scanner, scanning single, double, and multi-page documents, and editing images to produce polished and easy to read scans.
