Find Disaster Film Resources by Subject Heading

Search with Subject Headings in the Library Catalogue

  1. Go to UTL LibrarySearch Advanced Search
  2. Enter any of the Subject Heading found below exactly as it appears in the Search Box 
  3. Choose Subject from the Search Filters drop-down menu on the left
  4. Press Enter or click on the Magnifying Glass icon

Individual Directors as Subject Headings

Search as above; use last name first name 

  • e.g., Emmerich, Roland  or Honda, Ishiro

Titles of films as Subject Headings

  • Search as above, choosing either Title or Subject from drop-down menu.
  • Place quotation marks around the title to instruct the catalogue to search for that exact phrase: 
    • Be careful of US vs Canadian spelling. 
    • e.g., "The Day After Tomorrow", or "Dr. Strangelove"

Important Search Tip

When searching use search operators to combine search terms to avoid getting news or scientific sources about real-life disasters.

  • Books about disaster films are shelved within the Call Number range PN1995.9 .D55. Both Innis and Robarts libraries have substantial holdings in their respective collections.
