The workstation (PC) version of FactSet comes bundled with an Excel add-in. The add-in is NOT available for Mac or Chromebook or FactSet Web users.
The FactSet add-in comes bundled with templates that support financial modeling and analysis, including valuation. These templates allow you to both model different inputs or scenarios and to refresh your model with 'live data' supplied by FactSet. It is recommended that FactSet be launched for the templates to function; otherwise, the add-in by itself may not work as intended. Please note that once a template has been saved outside of the add-in, the data will no longer update.
If you have installed FactSet Workstation on your PC, the Excel add-in should be automatically enabled.
If it does not appear, try trouble-shooting as follows:
1. | Check Excel > Options > Add-ins and ensure all available FactSet add-ins are listed as 'Active Application Add-ins'. if they are not, select the 'Go' button besides 'Excel Add-ins' to select and enable these. |
2. | Contact FactSet Support - international support numbers are listed here. |
1. | Click on the Template Library icon. A separate 'Template Library' window will open. Be patient - it may take a while to load. |
2. | Type a keyword in the upper left-hand box to find a template. Alternatively, click on a tab to browse the templates associated with that category. Many of the most useful templates for valuation will be associated with the 'Analysis' tab. |
3. | Click once on a template to highlight it. It will turn blue and will preview on the right. |
4. | Click on the green + sign in a highlighted template to select it for downloading. It wil now appear in the 'Selected Templates' section. |
5. | Select the 'Download To' button beneath and to the right tof the 'Selected Templates' section to open it in Excel. |
