  (Please note that these files are under Freedom of Information Restriction, for more information, please consult this guide) Files created by the Office of Indian Resource Policy and its successors in the course of carrying out its responsibility for researching and responding to Native land claims and issues. Included in the files are reports, correspondence, minutes of meetings, relevant historical documents, memoranda of understanding and cabinet submissions.
• RG 1-653: Articles of James Bay Treaty (Treaty 9) (1905-1906, 1929-1930)

  Series consists of RG 1-653-1, the original vellum copy of Treaty 9 used in the 1905-1906 signing ceremonies, and RG 1-653-2, the paper adhesion used in the 1929-1930 signing events.

  The personal papers of the Crown Counsel to the Federal Government Aemilius Irving. These papers are especially valuable to Treaty 3 and Robinson Treaties research. • RG 1-273-5 Crown land survey correspondence and reports relating to Indian reserves and land claims (1893-1914)

  (Please note that these files are under Freedom of Information Restriction, for more information, please consult this guide) Records relating to the allocation of land for Indian reserves in northern Ontario. Included are copies of documentation relating to specific treaties (the Robinson-Huron and Robinson- Superior Treaties) which appear to have been compiled as background for the Treaty No. 9 negotiations.
• C 275-2 Duncan Scott Campbell fonds, James Bay Treaty Tour ([circa 1905]-[circa 1906])

  Series consists of photographs created by Duncan Campbell Scott during the first of two Commissioners' visits in 1905-1906 (the other in 1929-1930) to Northern Ontario. The photographs depict the activities of the Commissioners at each post along the route. The event of the signing of the treaty is depicted only at Flying Post which was one of the many treaty signing ceremonies involved in Treaty No.9 tour.

  • These files deal with all aspects of the administration of Indian Affairs in western Canada. Many of the early files were created by the Office of the Indian Commissioner. The Black Series covers Western Canada (Manitoba to British Columbia).
