**Note on Elsevier Tools: SciVal makes use of the Scopus database to build its metrics and support its varied functions. As such, automatically generated profile data in Scopus can be repurposed in SciVal. Users can build on Scopus author profile data to define researchers according to their criteria. In SciVal, researchers are entities which have been created with the benefit of human input. SciVal users can combine author profiles, remove publications, and add individual publications to create a Researcher in the system.
