A few tips for business research:
1. When you search the library catalogue, you can find relevant journal and news articles on your topic. However, most of the business content - company profiles, industry and market research - is not searchable in the catalogue. We do subscribe to these resources, however, they require you to search directly within databases to find the relevant content.
Please see our Databases by Subject page for shortcuts to these resources. They are available to all U of T students. In addition to the content in this guide, we also have company, industry and market research guides.
2. Try different keywords for your subject - sometimes banking will be the better bet, sometimes it is finance or financial services. Make a list of synonyms and related industries. Couriers can be tricky because they can be listed under couriers, air freight, transportation and logistics, etc. So there could be reports on your topic but they're not showing up because you need to try another word or term. It could be helpful to look up the relevant NAICS or SIC code and see which words they use for the industry.
3. Most of our databases are focused on the US and Canada, and your best bets for other countries are EMIS (go to client login on the upper right to access the database), Statista, and Passport. eMarketer, Frost & Sullivan, IBISWorld also have some global content.
