a) Black Histories Wikipedia Edit-a-thon (With Training) - FEB 12
Join us for this beginner-friendly editing event to help improve the coverage of Black histories, with a focus on Toronto and Canada.
Never edited before? No problem. An optional training session for editing Wikipedia will be offered at the start of the event. You're welcome to just attend the training portion or to stick around afterwards for communal editing.
Throughout the entire event, we'll be editing together—you can drop in or out anytime. Student facilitators will be available for any questions and one-on-one support.

Keynote Talk will be held virtually by Dr. Kisha McPherson, Assistant Professor, School of Professional Communications, Toronto Metropolitan University on February 25 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm

b) Black Histories Wikipedia Edit-a-thon: Black Health Edition (With Training) - FEB 27
The goal of this edit-a-thon is to create and update Wikipedia pages for individuals in health sciences belonging to the Black community, in order to highlight their scientific research, role in health policy, and/or science communication, as well as focusing on underrepresented topics in Black Health. No previous Wikipedia editing experience needed – beginners are welcome!
WHEN: Thursday, February 27 from 5:00 to 7:30 pm
WHERE: In-person at the Gerstein Science Information Centre (Alice Moulton Room, 2nd flr)
WHO: Open to all current students, faculty, librarians, and staff at Toronto Metropolitan University, University of Toronto, and York University.
