PubMed is a database specializing in scholarly literature in the life sciences and biomedical disciplines. PubMed is important for research in these areas because it contains much content that is free to users outside of universities (e.g. private health care professionals).
Unfortunately, like some other databases covered in this guide, the citation trail tracking in PubMed is limited to forward searching. To search for references cited previously to your article's publication (backward searching) consult the article's bibliography.
1) Locate and click on your desired article to access the item's record.
