About This Guide

Introduction

Critical Insights: Harlem Renaissance (Salem Press, 2015)The guide is a companion to the library research seminar taught by Agatha Barc (Reader Services and Instruction Librarian, Victoria University Library). Download the presentation slides from the session if you would like to review the recommended strategies and tools for completing this assignment.

The materials included in the guide are intended to assist the students with conducting research for their second research assignment on the responses of one Harlem-Renaissance poet to W.E.B. Du Bois’s “Criteria of Negro Art” and Alain Locke’s “The New Negro.” The resources presented here are highly selective and we have chosen them based on the research requirements of the assignment, subject matter of the course, as well as its learning objectives.
