Jackman Scholars-in-Residence ~ The Art and Science of Museum Objects and Seeing Potential: Asking/Investigating/Exhibiting the Malcove Collection

This guide is intended for those enrolled in the 2019 iteration of the Jackman Institute for Humanities Scholars in Residence Program working with Dr. Alen Hadzovic and Dr. Erin Webster.

Adding content to your pages

Now that you have created some pages, you can add content. Here are the steps to follow:

1. In the Malcove Collection exhibit, all of the pages are listed at the bottom of the exhibit information page. Choose your page. Omeka allows you to build content using "Content Blocks" and gives some choice regarding layout and content appearance. First, you will be prompted to select the type of content that you would like to add. Select the layout, and click "add new content block."

2. You can now add both items and text.

Adding previously uploaded images

3. To select the image, click on "add item." You will be able to select a previously added and described item that resides in Omeka. Search for your item using the title field as this will likely be the most effective way to find it.

4. Select your item. You can provide a caption (title, creator, date, etc) by entering the text. Hit apply.

5. Make sure to save your changes.

6. You have some options for layout, in terms of alignment and image size. You can selelct "Layout Options" in order to adjust these.

7. You can also add text to your page, and format it in the way you would like (although this is somewhat limited). You can check what your page looks like by selecting the "view public page" button.

And here it is:
