MGT232H5: Business Finance II

A course guide to support students in their group assignment for MGT232.

Welcome!

This course guide has been developed by your liaison librarian, in cooperation with your instructors, to support your research for your group video assignment on Newmont's acquisition of Newcrest Mining.

There is a video demo, available in your Quercus course shell, that takes you through how to use FactSet to locate company and deal (M&A) information. Below is information on FactSet accounts.

FactSet Accounts

The library staff in the Finance Learning Centre have set-up FactSet accounts for all of you to use in completing the group video assignment. If you already had a FactSet account, this won’t impact you and you can continue to use your existing account.

  • Within 5-7 business days, you should receive an email from FactSet to your official University of Toronto email account, if not sooner. This email will provide instructions on how to set up your account, starting with how to register your FactSet ID.

  • If you do not receive the email from FactSet, please check your junk mail folder. Once you've verified you did not receive this email, please feel free to contact the FLC at utm.lkcflc@utoronto.ca for help.

  • PC users will be able to access both FactSet Web and Workstation, but Mac users are limited to FactSet Web.

  • Anyone can come to the FLC to use FactSet Workstation, which is installed on all of our computers, without needing a personal account. See the FLC’s website for our location and hours.

  • Your FactSet account will remain active until you graduate. If at any time, you don't log in for 90 days, your account will be deactivated, and you will need to contact FactSet Support (support@factset.com) to request reactivation.

We encourage you to explore and become familiar with FactSet’s many features:

  • Please use the FactSet Quick Start Guide on the FLC website for information on how to get help, and how to access the Online Assistant.

  • We recommend you explore FactSet Learning, where you can access an introduction video, as well as FactSet’s library of video tutorials and certifications. These are modular tutorials and you can pick and choose which to watch. To access FactSet Learning, log in with your FactSet account at https://learning.factset.com/.

If you have any questions or concerns about FactSet, please feel free to contact us at utm.lkcflc@utoronto.ca. Enjoy exploring FactSet!
