Want to improve your research process by searching more effectively and efficiently?  Take your research to the next level with our popular 3-part workshop seriesStrategies for Systematic, Scoping, or Other Comprehensive Searches of Literature.  You are welcome to take one or all three workshops*:

Open to all current U of T graduate students and faculty engaged in health science research.

Services offered for systematic, scoping, and other types of reviews

This guide is primarily for students and other researchers conducting systematic reviews and scoping reviews for coursework, thesis/dissertation requirements, or for other research purposes. 

There are two services offered by librarians of the Gerstein Science information Centre regarding systematic reviews, scoping reviews and other types of knowledge syntheses:

Systematic or scoping reviews for course-work & thesis/dissertation Systematic or scoping reviews for research & publication (i.e. not for coursework or thesis/dissertation)

1. Consultation Service

  • A librarian will provide a consultation on how to conduct a comprehensive search strategy. 
  • The librarian will not be a team member nor create the search strategies.

1. Systematic & scoping review service

A librarian will join your team and:

  • Create, validate and translate the search strategies
  • Advise on databases to search
  • Document the search strategies
  • Write the search methodology section
  • Suggest keywords when submitting manuscript)s) for publication
  • Respond to peer reviewers' comment as appropriate
  • Be included as a coauthor on publication(s)
