This is an introductory course in Canadian labour relations law (i.e. the law applicable to unionized
workplaces). Labour law issues and concepts can be complex and involve not only a sound knowledge
of the legal principles but an ability to manage multiple, ongoing relationships. The course will be
taught in a practical way. We will consider legal theory, and concepts and will apply these to real world
and current situations throughout the course to bring the legal concepts to life. Our emphasis will be
on private sector workplaces.
