Assistance, guidance & reassurance:

Research consultation (individual appointments)

You can book an in-person or online research consultation with Diane, the librarian who assembled this guide (E.J. Pratt Library). 
During a 30-60 minute in-depth consultation we can:

  • discuss your research topic, help you fine tune it (narrow it down to an appropriate thesis or research question)
  • discuss the appropriate tools to use to find supporting research, evidence or additional information
  • enhance your search strategy (help you identify the most effective search terms)

Simply email me: diane.michaud@utoronto.ca and include the following

  • Describe your question or research topic
  • Include an assignment description if applicable
  • Suggest 3 different days/times when you would like to meet (a minimum of 2 weekdays notice is preferred)

Drop-in research help (winter 2024):

Come in to the E.J. Pratt Library for on-the-spot research/reference help at the following times:  
MON, TUE, WED: 10am-4:45pm / THU: 10am–12:45pm and 3:15pm-5pm / FRI: 10am-1:45pm 
During those hours, a Graduate Research Assistant should be available at the library's Research Help/Reference Desk. They provide helpful research strategies and suggestions.
