Databases for articles (secondary sources)

You can use LibrarySearch to Search for peer-reviewed articles and scholarly books.
Use the Advanced Search and try different search formulas paying attention to "where" you are searching for your key terms.

Once you generate a results list, on the  you can select to limit to peer-reviewed articles on the left side under "Filter your results" (as shown below).

Below is a list of recommended subject-specific databases for searching by topic for secondary sources discussing the historical importance of an invention or a social change, significant event that may have spurred particular innovations.

Below is a sample search in Historical Abstracts you can use the same techniques * for truncation and "OR to include synonymous or related terms of equal interest.
