HPS255 History and Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence

Where and how to find articles

You can start with the Advanced Search in Library Search on the UT Libraries homepage
Below is an example of one effective first search strategy for articles.
You'll see that it includes an optional limit on searching for articles published only within the last 5 years.

Screen shot of library search with the following settings: title contains "machine learning OR "artificial intelligence" AND title contains education* OR universit* OR school*and a limiter to articles only published in the past 5 years.

With the search above, once a result list is generated, I would strongly recommend adding one more filter to the results.

  1. Under  "Filter your results" on the left
  2. Scroll down to "Subject" (as shown below)
  3. Select "education"
  4. Depending on where you clicked, you may need to click on "APPLY FILTERS"

This will filter out all of the computer science-based articles that may appear at the top of the results list with this particular search formula.
You may need to do something similar with your own search terms for various topics.
