Support for your research and writing

Research consultation for up to one hour

You can book an in-person or online research consultation with me. During a consultation we can:

  • discuss your research topic, help you fine tune it (narrow it down to an appropriate thesis or research question)
  • discuss the appropriate tools to use to find supporting research, evidence or additional information
  • enhance your search strategy (have you go through the process of identifying the most effective search terms)

Just email me: diane.michaud@utoronto.ca and include the following

  • Describe your question or research topic
  • Include an assignment description if applicable
  • Suggest 3 different days/times when you would like to meet (a minimum of 2 days notice is preferred)

Drop-in research help 

Winter 2025 (starting Jan. 6)

Drop-in research help is available at the E.J. Pratt Library at the following times:  

MON: 9:30am-2:30pm / TUES: 10am-5pm / WED: 1pm-5pm / THURS: 9:30am-11:30am and 2pm-5pm / FRI: 9:30am-4:30pm

During those hours, a Graduate Research Assistant should be available at the library's Research Help/Reference Desk to provide helpful research strategies and suggestions.

In addition, chat reference is available over extensive hours during the fall and winter semesters though live chat/ instant messaging via the "Ask, Chat with a Librarian" service. 

The Writing Centre offers invaluable services to help students improve their writing, such as,
individual consultations by appointment, workshops & clinics and online writing handouts
