CRTD43 - Curating Contemporary Art

CAMDO-ODMAC serves as a convener and catalyst for public art museum and gallery directors who lead a diversity of visual arts institutions across Canada. The unique role played by CAMDO-ODMAC within the arts sector accounts for the organization’s longevity (founded in 1964), record of continuous activity, and strong relevance to its membership. CAMDO-ODMAC provides the only forum for directors to engage in frank and open discussion of the opportunities, issues, and challenges they face in running art institutions, and in collecting, presenting, and promoting the visual arts for all Canadians.

The Ontario Association of Art Galleries (OAAG) will be an essential and sustainable art service organization serving Public Art galleries.
OAAG will be recognized as a leader in Canada’s cultural sector, whose voice is respected and trusted by stakeholders. OAAG will be enterprising in its delivery of services that members value. It will enable member connections through a state of the art digital platform. Members will be in ongoing contact with each other, to share resources and to develop the capacity of each individual and organization. OAAG and its partners will provide relevant, groundbreaking professional development courses to members.

The Artist-Run Centres and Collectives Conference is a Canadian organization that represents – by way of the nine artist-run centres’ associations that form its membership – over 180 artist-run centres in the visual and media arts, contemporary craft and architecture and collectives in cities and towns across the country. Artist-run centres’ associations – are the recognized non-profit geography, identity and discipline-based artist-run associations that form its federated membership.

The Canadian Museum Association (CMA) is the voice for Canada’s vibrant museum community, from small, volunteer-driven organizations to cherished national institutions, and for the millions of Canadians whose lives are enriched by museums.
We advocate for public policies and support, we build skills across the profession, and we establish and inspire connections to strengthen and sustain museums.

ICOM is a membership association and a non-governmental organisation which establishes professional and ethical standards for museum activities. As forum of experts, it makes recommendations on issues related to cultural heritage, promotes capacity building and advances knowledge. ICOM is the voice of museum professionals on international stage and raises public cultural awareness through global networks and co-operation programmes.

The Ontario Museum Association strengthens capacity among institutions and individuals active in Ontario’s museum sector, facilitates excellence and best practices, and improves the communication and collaboration of its membership. The Association advocates for the important role of Ontario’s museums to society, working with all stakeholders, related sectors and industries, and other professional organizations.

The Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN), a Special Operating Agency within the Department of Canadian Heritage, offers valuable collections management resources to the Canadian museum community and online public access to millions of collections records. CHIN assists Canadian museums in documenting, managing, and sharing information about their collections, which in turn ensures that this information is accessible now and in the future.
