The catalogue lists all of the resources in the University of Toronto Libraries' collection. You can use it to search for:
To search the catalogue, use the search box in the top left corner of the library homepage.
Don't type out your complete research question. Break down your topic into the most important concepts - they are people, places, time periods, or issues. If you need help, check out the library's help page on choosing good keywords.
Combine your search terms using Boolean operators: AND, OR, and NOT.
You can also click on advanced search for other search options, like subject, author, etc.
Search results from the catalogue are grouped by item type (articles, books, journals, videos & DVDs, etc.). To see the complete list of results for a specific item type, click on the All button at the bottom of the item type's section (e.g. All Books).
The catalogue includes print books and online books (eBooks). To limit results to online books only, check off the box next to Online under the Refine Your Search area along the left side of the screen.
During the COVID-19 library closure, we also have access to online versions of certain print books in our collection through HathiTrust's online library. To check if a book is available online through HathiTrust, select a book from your search results. On the book's record, click on the Get Help button underneath the cover image.
The system will automatically link you to the book in the HathiTrust library if it's available. If not, the system will tell you if you can request the print book for curbside pickup (this service is currently available at Robarts Library on the St. George campus, at the UTSC Library, and at the UTM Library).
