Search WITHIN a Specific Journal

In order to search for journal articles from a specific subject area, framework or perspective, you can search within a specific journal title.

You can search Proquest or EBSCO by specifying the name of the journal title in the field for PUBLICATION TITLE or SOURCE, respectively. (My spot tests indicate the Proquest might be slightly better in some cases).

Significant Journal Titles in the area of Semiotics include:

1. Semiotica*

  • Go to Proquest
  • Select the field PUBLICATION TITLE (PT) and enter: Semiotica
  • In the Keyword (KW) field, enter: social media
  • In the Results, click on GET IT at UTL
    •  Select volume and issue button
      • Frobenius, Maximiliane, and Richard Harper. “Tying in Comment Sections: The Production of Meaning and Sense on Facebook.” Semiotica: Journal of the International Association for Semiotic Studies/Revue de l’Association Internationale de Sémiotique, vol. 204, 2015, pp. 121–143. EBSCOhost, doi:10.1515/sem-2014-0081.

2. American Journal of Semiotics*

*Be sure to select the option to limit search to this journal title
