Lawyers Marc Lampert and Alex Koch will be conducting a free 1.5 hour workshop on practical legal tips for startup companies. There will be an interactive discussion centred around an introduction to various concepts and strategies on business structures, technology contracts and intellectual property (“IP”).
You will gain a better understanding of the range of legal issues that a growing startup will encounter, as well as how to navigate around common pitfalls to position a startup for long-term success. Information will be presented on the following topics:

Marc Lampert is a lawyer at BHOLE IP LAW with a particular focus on helping innovators' ideas achieve viability though providing strategic advice in intellectual property, technology and product development law. Along with being a licensed lawyer, as a registered patent and trademark agent, Marc has worked with companies to strategize, prepare and prosecute their patent and trademark applications. Prior to joining the team at Bhole IP Law, Marc was an associate in a national full-service law firm servicing the Waterloo hi-tech community. Prior to embarking on a legal career, Marc graduated in electrical engineering at The University of Western Ontario and gained industry experience at an engineering consulting firm.
Alex Koch is the founder and principal of Insight Legal, a business law firm located in Toronto's Financial District. Alex helps simplify the legal aspects of entrepreneurship for the firm's startup clients across a wide array of industries such as health and wellness, food and beverage, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, pet care, retail and tech (including fintech, green tech, cleantech and mobility tech). Alex's business law practice focuses on helping clients with their ongoing operational legal needs as well as assisting them in corporate transactions.
