ChemDraw Installation and Renewal

A how-to guide on installing the latest version of ChemDraw and how to renew each year in November.

ChemDraw Renewal Time!

You can now new renew your ChemDraw software for the 2023-2024 period by following the instructions below.

Renewal instructions

The U of T ChemDraw site license is renewed annually in October, meaning that you may need to renew your software each year by following the instructions below.

The new activation code for 2023-2024 is the same as last year. This means that you may not need to do anything to renew, but instead your software will automatically be updated to reflect the new expiry date.

Our license supports at least the previous 2 versions  - we do recommend that you upgrade at some point though you do not need to do so immediately. Note: As of June 12, 2024, version 19 will be end of life, no longer supported and no longer available for download. Versions 18 and 19 are no longer supported.

Renewal instructions for ChemDraw for both Mac and PC users

If your software does not automatically update with this next year's expiry date in October/November and you are still being prompted to renew, follow the instructions below:

1. Open ChemDraw. You may get a message saying your subscription needs to be renewed. Close any pop-up notifications about renewing your software. Your ChemDraw window should then appear.

2. Open the Activation window from the menu along the top of your screen.

  • Windows: Click Help > Activate ChemDraw

  • Mac: Click ChemDraw > Activate ChemDraw

3. Choose "Activate ChemDraw Professional"

4. The activate window should open with all the fields filled. Leave this window open while you retrieve the activation code from the Signals Revvity site.

5. Next you will need to log in to the Revvity Signals Download Centre (where you downloaded the software originally). Please note:  Revvity Signals recently updated their login system. If you already have a Download Centre account associated with your UofT email address, you may need to sign up again as a new user. Visit the login page, click the New User tab and then enter the username and password you previously used to log in.

6. Once logged in, the newest renewal will be listed first on the homepage. Copy the Product Activation Code on the right-hand side.

7. Go back to the your ChemDraw screen, enter the activation code and click Activate. This will renew your access for another year. Note: For Mac users, you may have to first click the Deactivate button before you can activate the license for this year.

Unsure whether your software has been successfully renewed? Check by following the instructions below:

1. Open the About ChemDraw window from the menu along the top of your screen.

  • Windows: Go to Help > About ChemDraw
  • Mac: Go to ChemDraw > About ChemDraw

2. Confirm that the expiry date listed is October 29, 2024.

Special Instructions for Mac Users

In recent years, some Mac users have experienced problems with renewing their ChemDraw licenses.

If you are a Mac user and you receive the message Activation succeeded but no new license was obtained when entering the activation code to renew your license, please follow the instructions below:

  2. Click the Deactivate button at the bottom of the Activate ChemDraw window to deactivate your software
