Welcome to the Ecclesiastical Latin LibGuide!

For hundreds of years, the majority of Christian theological texts were written in Latin.  Even today, the official editions of most Catholic liturgical works are published first in Latin before being translated into other languages.

Ecclesiastical Latin differs somewhat from classical Latin: it has developed its own specialized vocabulary, and sometimes uses grammatical or spelling variants.

This guide highlights some useful resources for students of Ecclesiastical Latin. It is organised into the following sections:

Dictionaries
Courses
Sacred Scripture
Liturgy
Prayers
Spiritual & Theological Classics
