This course explores various theories related to the nature of conflict and the processes and techniques of conflict resolution in both union and non-union settings. It reviews the factors that have caused the growth and proliferation of dispute resolution and conflict management systems and examines and evaluates a variety of third-party dispute resolution systems. The focus of the course, however, will be on organizationally internal, integrated conflict management systems and their systematic approach to preventing, managing, and resolving conflict.
