FactSet, an FLC database, offers a free certification program in financial analysis that also develops your Excel skills.
The Financial Analysis Knowledge Base program is a self-paced online learning program designed to bridge the gap between corporate finance as taught in the classroom and the financial modelling you will do in Excel once you are in the workplace.
This self-study program is comprised of 19 chapters, with the entire program taking approximately 80-100 hours to complete. It includes practice materials and quizzes; a pass rate of 70% of higher on each chapter quizz is required to earn the certificate.
An individual FactSet Connect account is needed to access this program. To request your free account, please email the FLC at utm.lkcflc@utoronto.ca with the following information:
- Your first and last name
- Your primary program or departmental affiliation (e.g. MBiotech, ECO, MGT)
- Your expected date of graduation
- Your official University of Toronto email address (e.g. Mary.Finance@mail.utoronto.ca)
You will receive an email from FactSet within 3-5 business days of making a request - follow the instructions to set up your account. And drop by the FLC to let us know you're pursuing the certification or about your progress!
