VIC119 Myths and Legends in Modern Contexts (Fall 2023)

Finding articles, books and book chapters using LibrarySearch

LibrarySearch is a good place to start.
Search with your key terms, then focus the results retrieved by using the search filters on the left side of the results list

"Filter your results"
Under "Format" select the formats you are interested in, e.g., book, article, book chapter (shown below: format limiters selected and locked/preserved for any changes to your search terms/search formula)

Another approach (mostly retrieves books, book chapters and e-books):

The following subject terms draw from an established subject description terminology assigned to books in academic libraries (the LCSH).

Using one of the following subject searches (searching in the subject field as shown below) will bring up relevant sources.

Haida art

Indigenous peoples -- North America -- Northwest, Pacific

Haida Indians -- Legends

Indian art -- North America
(outdated subject term, but still leads to relevant sources. For this term you definitely want to combine with "Haida" in "Any Field")

If you click on one of the hyperlinks above, also try adding to the search by editing the search (as shown below):

Try also combining one of the above "subject" search terms with keywords anywhere in the description ("any field") that reflect characteristics of your object (as shown below):
