Welcome and Course Description
This course offers a critical look at ways of exhibiting art by exploring the collection and exhibitions of our own campus gallery, the Doris McCarthy Gallery, and the public sculptures located on campus. Through readings, discussions and site visits we will consider the nature of exhibitions, their audiences and current practices juxtaposed with investigations of the history and practice of display. We will consider the relationship and ideals of what it means to have a campus art gallery, and explore the opportunities this institution offers for different communities.
