Finding sources

There are two principle ways to find sources on any topic in a library collection:

Search by keyword or phrase

To locate items in LibrarySearch that describe the history of the University of Toronto, consider using and modifying one or more of the following keyword and phrase combinations or build your own advanced search:

"University of Toronto" AND history

"University College" AND Toronto AND history

"Philosopher's Walk" AND Toronto

"Taddle Creek" AND Toronto

Search by subject

All items included in the LibrarySearch database have been tagged with a subject description. These descriptive tags are called "subject headings" and you can use these to find useful resources. For instance, books describing the history of the University of Toronto are tagged with the phrase:

University of Toronto -- History

If you open that link, you will see that there are more than 100 books in our collection tagged with this subject heading:

Library Search results for the subject University of Toronto history.

Here a few more subject headings that might be helpful:

Toronto (Ont.) -- History
Queen's Park -- Toronto
Indigenous peoples -- Ontario -- Toronto -- History
Indian trails -- Ontario
