Formerly the ACS Style Guide, the new ACS Guide to Scholarly Communication was released January 2020 and offers regular updates on:

• Scientific Communication,
• Scientific Journals,
• Data in the Google Era,
• Scientific Style Conventions (includes important information on graphics, tables, and references), and
• Editorial Style Conventions.

Refer to Part 4.3 for information on references.

Please note that the above video was created prior to the release of the new ACS style guidelines in 2020 and while much of the information is still relevant please consult the ACS Guide to Scholarly Communications (linked above) for all the up to date information to include in your citations. 

Collecting and organizing citations can be one of the more frustrating tasks of research. Citation management software can help you save time by:

• collecting citations (to articles, books, websites, etc.) from databases, library catalogues, web, etc.
• organizing, editing and searching for citations
• inserting and formatting citations and bibliographies into word processing
• automatically formatting and reformatting references in particular styles e.g. APA, ACS, CBE/CSE or a particular journal's style

No citation management software is perfect! However, citation management software can save you valuable time formatting and organizing your research.
