Searching for Journal Articles

Searching for Books

Some books will be referenced within the journal databases recommended above, but you should also search in the library catalogue for books owned by the UTL system. If you have enough time, you can also request books from other campuses and/or other libraries. Make sure you are on the catalogue tab to avoid extra results that you don't want.

Searching for books is the same as searching for articles.

Here are a few tips to remember:

  • Synonyms will help ensure you find material that may be on your topic using different terms.
  • Ensure you are spelling your keywords correctly.
  • Start with a broad search and then narrow it down to avoid finding nothing or very little.
  • use "" to search for exact phrases or titles

Searching for Government Reports

Searching for reports can be tricky. Many reports may be found in the journal databases mentioned above. If you are unsure if a report is appropriate for your project, check with your professor.
