Career Research: Advancing Your Career Exploration

Winter 2025

"What do you know about our company?"

This is a common interview question. Research the basics of a company before you go out for an interview with them.

Why they ask this:

  • Do you care enough to the deep research?
  • Are you a good researcher?

Consider the following:

  • Management
  • Recent events (mergers, IPOs, expansions)
  • Financials
  • Operations

Ask yourself smart questions:

  • What are the main challenges this company is facing?
  • What is their mission? Their vision? Their goals?
  • What is the news saying about this company?
  • Have there been recent layoffs?
  • Who are the biggest competitors?
  • Are they #1 in anything?
  • Am I connected to anyone who works/has worked here?
  • Who will be interviewing me?
  • What are they proud of?

Other topics of interest may include:

  • Corporate social responsibility
  • History
  • Economical impacts
  • Clients/customers
