Municipal Resources

"In Canada, the province defines the ways in which the municipalities operate. Provincial acts such as Municipal Act, Municipal Election Act and the Planning Act prescribe the functions, organization and powers of municipal governments. Many municipalities in Canada are run by a council with the support from various standing committees to deal with the wide range of activities under their jurisdictions. Municipal legislation is enacted through bylaws."
Municipal governments are generally responsible for providing services, such as public transportation, roads, water, social assistance, sewers, etc. as well as passing and administering bylaws.
Cities, towns, townships, counties, villages, districts and metropolitan regions are all considered municipal governments.
