The Toronto Purchase Treaties

These resources contain scanned images of the treaties between the Mississaugas and the Crown regarding the land currently occupied by central Toronto. For transcriptions of the treaties look up the ITS number (Indian Affairs consecutive number) in the citation in Indian treaties and surrenders, from 1680 to 1890.

The Mississauga Purchase Treaties

Scanned images of treaties and related documents between the Mississaugas (Anishinaabeg) and the Crown regarding the land currently occupied by Mississauga. For transcriptions of the treaties look up the ITS number in the citations below in Indian treaties and surrenders, from 1680 to 1890. These documents pertain to the treaty process of 1805-1806.

Eastern portion of Tkaronto, including Scarborough. This area was also covered by earlier pre-confederation treaties.
