This research guide directs you to a range of resources at the University of Toronto Library and numerous online resources for specialized subject areas. Consult the tab, Public Domain and Creative Commons for images that do not require copyright permissions to use.
Artstor
A repository of hundreds of thousands of digital images and related data. Click on "Search & Browse for Images" in lower right corner to use database.
FADIS (Fine Art Digital Imaging System)
FADIS (Fine Art Digital Imaging System) is a fine art and architecture repository and teaching tool consisting of over 30,000 digital images with accompanying meta data for private study and research.
OnArchitecture
An online audiovisual service which currently offers a selection of 150 videos of buildings, installations and interviews with the world's most distinguished contemporary architects/authors. All of this is enriched with a selection of complementary material - documents and audiovisuals - about the main authors and figures of contemporary architecture.

AGRAM Database: Architectural Information
Work of Aalto, Le Corbusier, Duiker, Jujol, Loos, Melnikov, Schinkel, and Wright is presented on this site with photos, drawings, and models.
Canadiana
Approximately 22,000 digitized Canadian maps, digitized by McGill University Library, are from the 1:50,000 scale National Topographic Series and date from 1905 to 2012. The maps depict in detail ground relief (landforms and terrain), drainage (lakes and rivers), forest cover, administrative areas, populated areas, transportation routes and facilities (including roads and railways), and other human-made features such as buildings, power lines and dams. The collection includes both colour and grayscale maps.
Dome (MIT)
MIT Libraries digital collections can be found in Dome. There are over 70,000 images, maps, and documents. Some collections within Dome are limited to the MIT community but many are not.
Flickr
Make sure to check the The Commons collection that is available through Flickr. The Commons is a great collection of copyright free, often historic, images from the world's public photography archives, including the US Library of Congress, Smithsonian, New York Public Library, and the U.S. National Archives. There are no restrictions on downloading these images.
RIBApix
RIBApix is a database of exceptional and unique images from the collections of the British Architectural Library at the Royal Institute of British Architects, the world's most extensive visual archive devoted to architecture. RIBApix covers world architecture of all periods together with related subjects such as interior design, landscape, topography, planning, construction and the decorative arts.
