3D Printing at UofT

At the University of Toronto, there are numerous maker labs that provide 3D printing training and services. Please use the table below to find specific labs and equipment.

Please note that during the pandemic some labs are closed or have only limited service and are still working on reopening plans. Check their homepages for the most up-to-date policies and announcements.

3D printing services for U of T departments/faculties (restricted use)

Centre for Entrepreneurship Prototyping & Makerspace
Four labs are equipped with 3D printers, scanner, laser cutter, and vacuum former as well as electronic, food and art technologies. Located at the Schwartz Reisman Innovation Campus, labs are available to Faculty of Arts & Science students, alumni, faculty, and staff for a fee.
Daniels Digital Fabrication Lab
The Digital Fabrication Lab is equipped with two Stratasys F120 3D printers, a 3D Systems Projet 660pro printer, a 3D Systems Projet 650pro printer, and a 3D Systems Projet 360 printer.

IBBME Design Studio
The IBBME Design Studio is an instructional and collaboration space for biomedical engineering design and education. It also houses a variety of 3D printing resources for use by students and researchers at U of T.
KMDI-Semaphore Makerspace
Located in the Faculty of Information, at the University of Toronto’s St. George campus, the KMDI-Semaphore Makerspace has a variety of equipment available for members of the UofT community to use for research projects and related activities, including: 3D printers and scanners, Arduinos, Raspberry Pis, MakeyMakeys, knitting, sewing, and embroidery machines (and materials), soldering irons, HTC Vive headsets, adaptive gaming controllers, and more.
Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Machine Shop
MIE's machine shop houses state-of-the-art equipment and provides technical services for U of T Engineering students and faculty. All U of T Engineering students and researchers have access to use the machine shop facilities for projects related to U of T academic activities or student clubs.
Myhal Centre Fabrication Facility
Located on Level 4 in room MY435, the Myhal Centre Fabrication Facility is a space for students and faculty to move their ideas from design to prototype. The Fabrication Facility offers a supervised drop-in Light Fabrication Facility and a limited-access Rapid Prototyping Facility. The Light Fabrication Facility on light-duty fabrication with materials such as timber, foam, plastics and soft metals equipped with 20 workbenches, a variety of hand tools, and basic power tools. The Rapid Prototyping Facility features digital fabrication equipment including a variety of 3D printing technologies, laser and water jet cutting.
UT Mississauga - Biomedical Communications
BMC students also have access to digital tools including a space for three-dimensional printing that includes a Formlabs Form 2 SLA printer, and Preform software.
