This preliminary bibliography brings together secondary sources exploring various critical aspects of the history of the University of Toronto, from the time of its founding to the mid-to-late twentieth century.
As is noted throughout, scholarship is lacking in many areas. However, new research is expected, and this bibliography is designed to assist researchers taking up new scholarship on these subjects. In some cases, non-scholarly, non-historical, or tangentially related sources have been included as a means of providing context where scholarship is lacking, or as a means of situating current and future research.
In addition to secondary sources, related UTARMS accessions have also been included for certain topics. These listings are non-exhaustive, and the absence of a related UTARMS accessions list for a subject is not meant to indicate that UTARMS does not hold related materials.
