Mooting Resources

Introduction

Welcome to the Bora Laskin Law Library's guide to mooting resources.

If you need help researching or preparing for a moot, please consult any of the reference librarians.

Sample Factum Precedents

The outline of a factum is fairly standard, regardless of the court to which it is being submitted. For example, most begin with a style of cause and are then organized into five parts:

  • Part 1: Case History
  • Part 2: Statement of the Facts
  • Part 3: Statement of the Issues
  • Part 4: The Law
  • Part 5: The Order Requested

You may therefore find it helpful to download the model form "blank" factum above for either the appellant or the respondent, to be modified as appropriate.
