IRE1610 emphasizes the practical application of basic skills required to manage either in unionized workplaces or in workplaces that might be faced with a certification application. Lectures, readings, simulations, and assignments will serve to acquaint the student with the structure and functioning of the Canadian industrial relations system, basic employment law concepts, the union certification process, negotiation and administration of collective agreements, strikes and dispute resolution, and Canadian industrial relations in an international context.
