Scholarship as a Conversation

  • You will summarize the changes in scholarly perspective over time on your particular topic within international development studies; 

Searching as Strategic Exploration

  • You will identify interested parties, such as scholars, organizations, governments, and industries, who might produce information about your topic and determine how to access that information. 

  • You will utilize divergent (e.g., brainstorming) and convergent (e.g., selecting the best source) thinking when searching to find relevant information. 

Research Process

Remember the research process is not linear. You will inevitable move back and forth between focusing your topic, research, and writing before completing your assignment.   

Research Process includes topic selection, prefocus exploration, focus formulation, information collection, information refinement, and search closure.
