Historical Canadian Catholic Periodicals

Title and Photo

What's in this guide?

Historic periodicals are a useful source of information about contemporary events and popular opinion at the time of the periodical's publication. This guide provides links to Canadian Catholic periodicals that have been digitized and made available online. Most are newspapers; some are magazines or other types of periodicals.

This guide only includes periodicals with significant digitized runs (i.e. not just a few isolated issues). Digitized periodicals come from several sources:

Early Canadiana Online (ECO)
Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ)
Google News
Internet Archive
• individual periodical websites

Authorship of Guide

This guide was created as part of a collaborative project with the Catholic Research Resources Alliance. It has received financial support from the University of Toronto Workstudy Program.

The students who collected the data and created the guide were Drew Crocker, Karolina Zuchniak, and Melissa Walter.
