Searching the catalogue for a specific play

  • You will find many plays (in print and online) in the U of T Libraries Catalogue.
  • To find a particular play, it helps to know the title of the play and in some cases the name of the collection it was published in.
  • If you don't already have this information, you can try searching Play Index by author, title, subject or genre, to find out the name of the collection in which the play was published

To search for a play (or a collection of plays) by title, start at the library homepage

  • Go to the "Catalogue" tab and type the title of a play or a play collection
  • Select "title" from the dropdown menu, then click Search

  • In your search results, take note of the following things:

  • 1) the call number: e.g. PS8307 .C25 V.1
  • 2) the library that has the item: e.g. Robarts
  • 3) the location within the library: e.g. Stacks
  • 4) if the item is IN or signed OUT: e.g.
