1) Asking Critical and Evaluative Questions for each task in your research process

2) Using Critical Questions to test and develop your argument of your paper

3) Joining the Scholarly Conversation by "situating and substantiating" your argument

U of T Libraries (UTL) provides access to many scholarly resources

  • REFERENCE SOURCES  Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Guides
    •    good for definitions, names, dates, facts and context
  • BOOKS/CHAPTERS  on Topic or Idea/Ideology
    • can provide overview of topic
  • PERIODICALS Journals, Magazines, Newspapers
    • can provide current, specific research
