SimplyAnalyticsSelect the 'Sign in as a guest' option to avoid creating an individual account and select the 'Sign in' button. Select a country, either 'Canada' or the 'USA', for your 'project' and click on the 'Next' button. Select the 'Create project without seed variables' option.
Using the left-hand menu, click the 'Locations' menu and search for your target location. Please note that SimplyAnalytics uses census geography which may not correspond exactly to city or municipal boundaries (e.g. select 'Mississauga, ON (CSD) as a proxy for the City of Mississauga). The 'Custom Locations' option can be also be used if you wish to use one or more locations or create a custom geography.
Then select the 'Businesses' icon to create a list of businesses, using criteria you specify. Select the 'Use advanced search' option to search by name, employee size or known industry code. Use 'Browse business categories' to drill down and select industry codes such as NAICS - these can be more comprehensive than searching by keyword. A map will automatically be generated showing the geography selected and list of businesses generated using your criteria.
On the far right-hand menu, select the 'Businesses' icon to see a list of your results in a table format. Select 'Columns' to add or delete columns to the table. Click the 'Export' option to download the table as an Excel or .CSV file.
There are data export limits associated with Simply Analytics. Each user is limited to a maximum of 2500 business points per single export, a maximum of 5000 points per week, and a maximum of 20,000 per year.
