HIS214H5: Comparative Genocide

Human Rights Watch investigates and reports on abuses happening in all corners of the world.

The collection includes over 54,000 video testimonies of survivors and witnesses of genocide. Testimonies are from the Holocaust, the Armenian Genocide that coincided with World War I, the 1937 Nanjing Massacre in China, the Cambodian Genocide of 1975-1979, the Guatemalan Genocide of 1978-1983, the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, and the ongoing conflicts in the Central African Republic and South Sudan, and anti-Rohingya mass violence. It also includes testimonies about contemporary acts of violence against Jews.

The Armenian National Institute (ANI) is an independent non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., dedicated to the study, research, and affirmation of the Armenian Genocide.

The Fortunoff Archive and its affiliates recorded the testimonies of willing individuals with first-hand experience of the Nazi persecutions, including those who were in hiding, survivors, bystanders, resistants, and liberators.

The Wiener Holocaust Library's Digital Resources offer:

Their digitized collection offers filters (key events, cities, camps, and ghettos) to search personal stories, such as interviews in audio/video, home movies, memoirs, and diaries.

Centropa was founded in Vienna and Budapest in 2000 with the goal of preserving Jewish memory in Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the Baltics, and the former Soviet Union, then disseminating our findings to the widest possible audience.
Centropa’s goal was to collect stories about the entire 20th century from a thousand elderly Jews still living between the Baltic and the Aegean rather than focusing on the Holocaust.

A number of memoirs from the famine in Ukraine have been translated into english especially for the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies website.

An online archive of chronology of events, documentations, audio, video, images, media reports and eyewitness accounts of the 1971 Genocide in Bangladesh in the hands of Pakistan army.

Many survivor stories are accompanied by the videos that are available via YouTube.
