Find Anime Resources at UofT & Online

Search with Subject Headings in the Library Catalogue

  1. Go to UTL LibrarySearch Advanced Search
  2. Enter any of the Subject Heading found below exactly as it appears in the Search Box 
  3. Choose Subject from the Search Filters drop-down menu on the left
  4. Press Enter or click on the Magnifying Glass icon

You can also use a Subject search to look for resources on individual directors, films, and studios. Note that not all will have assigned subject headings so you may have to preform a keyword search as well.

Individual directors (Search as above; use last name, first name):

  • e.g., Miyazaki, Hayao, etc.

Individual films (Search as above; use quotations to search an exact title):

  • e.g., princess mononoke, "Spirited Away" etc.

Animation film studios (headings vary; search as above):

  • e.g., “Studio Ghibli”

Search the online catalogue using keywords

How to find graphic novels (Manga) at UTL

There are hundreds of comics and graphic novels in the Children's Literature collection at the OISE Library. To find them:

  1. Go to LibrarySearch select 'Advanced Search' on the right hand side of the page. 
     
  2. Under 'Search Filters'  change 'Any Field' to 'Subject' and enter "graphic novels" as a search term (include the quotation markets for an exact search). 
     
  3. Add another field and endter 'manga' and select "Search" in the bottom right hand side. 
     
  4. Use "Filter your results" on the left hand side to narrow your results to narrow by "Library" and under 'Subject' check off  "Graphic Novels".
