How to Use This Guide

Welcome to the HLTA02 library course guide! The first page of this guide provides an overview of important library supports and services, as well as contact information and links to get research help.

Use the navigation links in the top left corner to access the other pages of the guide, which cover how to search for sources using LibraryHelp and journal article databases and how to tell if your source is peer-reviewed.

Get Help

The health librarian, Kathryn Barrett, is always ready to help. Her contact information is available in the sidebar to the left side of the screen. You can send questions to her by email, or request a one-on-one online appointment in person or over Zoom or Microsoft Teams (please give her at least 24 hours notice).

Library Basics

Course Reserves
Instructors can make course readings available online through Quercus, the University's online learning management system, or as physical items that can be borrowed from the Course Reserve/Short Term Loan section at the UTSC Library.
Book a Study Room
The library has small- and medium-sized study rooms that can be booked via the Intranet and large group study rooms that are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Assignment Planner
The purpose of this planner is to help you break down your assignment or project into manageable steps and direct you to useful guides and services (particularly the Library and Writing Support). If you log in and supply an email address, it will also email you a reminder one week before the assignment is due.
Citation Guides (UTSC Writing Support)
Citation guides are also available in the UTSC Library's academic skills collection, found in the course reserves room.

Self-Paced Modules and Recorded Workshops
Get CCR credit for completing the Library Research Skills modules, or review self-paced modules and recorded workshops on a variety of topics.
Tri-Campus Workshops
Review the calendar and sign up for workshops from libraries across the university's three campuses. You can filter events by category, campus, and in person/online format.
